Basque skiers Aingeru Garay and June Garitano they have proclaimed Spanish giant alpine ski champions this Wednesday, in Baqueira Beret, by winning the Spanish championship of that modality. In addition, the also Basques Juan del Campo and Arrieta Rodriguez have obtained, respectively, the medals of silver and of bronze in the competition.
In this context, in the women’s championship, June Garitano from Urretxuarra, who was leading the race after the first round, won with a time of two minutes and 56 hundredths, one second and twenty hundredths less than Nuria Pau, who was classified second; Canadian Mathilde Huot finished in third position, one second and 61 hundredths away, so the bronze medal in the Spanish Championship went to Arrieta RodrÃguez from San Sebastian, fourth in the race, who was one second and 68 hundredths of Garitano.
In the men’s testAingeru Garay, a native of Galdakao, who also dominated at the end of the first round, won with a global time of one minute, 53 seconds and 46 hundredths, 86 less than Juan del Campo from Bilbao, who took the medal silver.
