The cyclist from Gasteiz Movistar Oier Lazkano has achieved the second place this wednesday at classical Through Flanderswhich has been won by the French Jumbo – Visma Christophe Laporte. Lazkano entered the breakaway that starred the race, and, in the final stretch, when Laporte had already caught up and passed the breakaway riders, he had the strength, class and determination to attack again and thus achieve the second position in the test, after completing an excellent performance.
The classic, which has been held over a route of 183.7 kilometres, starting in Roeselare and finishing in Waregem, has witnessed Laporte’s second victory in just four days, after the one that added on Sunday in Ghent – Wevelgem, also in Flanders. The 30-year-old French rider fought alongside his teammates to neutralize the breakaway in which they initially entered, in addition to Lazkano, Kristoff (Uno-X), Vanhoof (Flanders), Zukowsky (Q36.5), Gidich (Astana) and Heinschke (DSM); the classic Through Flanders, with eleven levels and eight cobbled sections, has seen how the battle between the participants has been constant throughout the day, and has had emotion until the end.

His victory was thus brilliant and deserved, but special mention should be made of the role of Oier Lazkano, who in the final stretch, with victory already in the hands of the Frenchman from Jumbo – Visma, launched himself for second place and He has achieved it, thus presenting his candidacy to be among the men to take into account for the Tour of Flanders next Sunday.
