Gracheva’s desire to change the flag became known on March 27. L’Equipe said the Russian, who has been training in Cannes since 2016, has applied for French citizenship and has already passed the required language tests.

The 22-year-old tennis player is ranked 54th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. On March 6, for the first time in her career, she reached the final of the WTA tournament: in the decisive match of the competition in Austin (USA), the Russian woman lost to Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk.
