Manchester United increased 23% of its wage bill and also grew 7.9% of its income

Ronaldo’s arrival has not only had an impact on salaries, but also on commercial contributions to the team.

The Manchester United increased its wage bill in the last quarter by 23% to 88.5 million pounds (119′047,425.00 dollars) due to the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane to the team.

The Manchester team, despite the increase in salaries with the incorporation of these three players, published a increase in income of 16.1%, up to 126.5 million pounds (170′067,750.00 dollars).

This is explained by the return of the public to the stadiums this season, once the restrictions around covid have been lifted and the fields have been filled to capacity.

Revenue per match day, which covers tickets, the purchase of club commercial products and the consumption of food at the stadium, increased to 18.8 million pounds (25’396.7840.00 dollars), which represents a spectacular increase from the 1.7 million pounds (2,267,570.00 dollars) of the previous season, when the games were played behind closed doors.

Furthermore, the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo has not only had an impact on the wage bill, but also on the team business income, which have increased by 7.9% to 64.4 million pounds (86’961,309.50 dollars).

The total debt of the team has hardly changed and has remained at 439.7 million pounds (592’969,555.00 dollars), compared to 440.6 million pounds (594’987,692.30 dollars) in the same period of the previous year.

Ed Woodward, Vice President of Manchester United, assured that, although the financial results show “resilience during the pandemic”, the priority remains “success in the field”.

“The players, the coach and everyone at the club are focused on achieving that goal,” added Woodward. (D)
