ROC assessed the IOC criteria for the admission of Russian athletes

The head of the ROC Pozdnyakov called the IOC criteria for the admission of Russians a violation of human rights

President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov assessed the criteria of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the admission of Russian athletes to international tournaments. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Pozdnyakov called the recommendations of the IOC a violation of human rights and discrimination. He demanded equal conditions for athletes of all countries and did not agree to additional doping tests. “The decisions of the executive committee are a farce, the principles of the IOC and the UN are violated,” the head of the ROC said.

Earlier on Tuesday, March 28, the IOC recommended that Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participating in tournaments.

At the end of February 2022, most sports organizations suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus on the recommendation of the IOC. The decision on the participation of representatives of these countries in the 2024 Olympics has not yet been made.
