Zyuganov criticized Karpin’s lack of motivation as head coach of the Russian national team
Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov criticized Valery Karpin for his words about the post of head coach of the Russian national football team. His words are quoted by Match TV.
Zyuganov said that it is unacceptable to be unmotivated as the head coach of the Russian national team, regardless of whether the team is admitted to official competitions or not. “The coach must know in advance how he will prepare the guys, what he will tell them, where to get the reserve from,” he considered.
On March 26, Karpin said that he did not hold on to a place in the national team, despite the fact that he likes working in a team. After that, the Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin criticized Karpin for indifference.
Karpin led the Russian national team in the summer of 2021. Under his leadership, the team reached the play-offs for the right to play in the 2022 World Cup, but did not play in them due to the suspension of the International Football Federation (FIFA).
