During the match of Brazilian Team against Morocco on Saturday, which ended 2-1 to the Moroccan team, Tottenham right-back Emerson Royal limped out of the game after suffering a knee injury and will need surgery.
The 24-year-old will need surgery on one of his menisci in Brazil this week. The procedure will be performed by Rodrigo Lasmar, the team’s doctor who has operated on Neymar and Coutinho before.
After the surgery, Royal will still have around two months to recover, which will leave him out for much of the season.
The surgery will be performed at a time when manager Antonio Conte left Tottenham after a series of controversies. Cristian Stellini will take over as interim coach of the team. Emerson had gained a starting spot on the team and had been starting in recent matches.
