The head coach of the Russian freestyle skiing team Alexander Pongilsky named the cause of death of the world champion in ski acrobatics Pavel Krotov. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“The cause of death has been established – at night, when he was sleeping, a cerebral vessel burst and a cerebral hemorrhage occurred,” Pongilsky said. He also said that Krotov would be buried in the Yaroslavl region on March 28.
The death of the 30-year-old athlete became known on March 26. Then it was reported that Krotov died in his sleep on the night of March 24-25.
Krotov is the 2021 world champion in team acrobatics. He also has a bronze medal in the world championship in singles and two golds in the World Cup. As part of the Russian national team, the athlete took part in the Olympic Games in 2014 and 2018.
