Matytsin criticized Karpin for indifference to the post of coach of the Russian national football team
Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin criticized Valery Karpin for his words about the post of head coach of the Russian national football team. His words are quoted by TASS.
Matytsin said that the coach is an authority and a role model of behavior that gives the mood to athletes and fans. “The expression of indifference in sports is a road to nowhere. Therefore, we must clearly decide: you are with us – the team, the fans, Russia, or you are on your own, ”the minister added.
Earlier on March 26, Karpin answered a question about his resignation from the team. He stated that he does not hold on to a place in the national team, as well as in Rostov, despite the fact that he likes working in teams.
Karpin led the Russian national team in the summer of 2021. Under his leadership, the team reached the play-offs for the right to play in the 2022 World Cup, but did not play in them due to the suspension of the International Football Federation (FIFA).
