American figure skater Ashley Wagner was outraged by the admission to the 2023 World Cup of Russian coaches
American figure skater Ashley Wagner was outraged by the admission of Russian coaches to the 2023 World Championships. The athlete spoke out Twitter.
“People questioning the validity of the doping scandal are, in my opinion, simply insane, given all the information we have,” Wagner said.
Russian coaches Eteri Tutberidze, Sergey Dudakov and Daniil Gleikhengauz are present at the tournament in Saitama, Japan, together with their students, Italian Daniel Grassle, as well as Nika Egadze and Maurice Kvitelashvili, representing the Georgian national team. In addition, Evgeny Rukavitsyn came to the championship, under whose leadership Anastasia Gubanova, who plays under the flag of Georgia, trains.
Russian figure skaters did not take part in the World Championships due to the sanctions of the International Skating Union (ISU). The ban for domestic athletes began to operate on March 1 last year. From 2015 to 2017, as well as in 2019 and 2021, Russian women became the winners of the women’s singles tournament.
