Minister of Sports of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit said that the Russians should not return to tournaments
Minister of Sports of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit commented on the return of Russians to international tournaments. His words are quoted by Nettavisen.
Gutzeit said that Ukrainians do not have normal conditions for training and preparing for the Olympic Games. “At the same time, the Russians have everything they need to train and perform in their country. They sleep at night, but we do not sleep,” he added, stressing that the return of the Russians should not happen on the eve of the Olympics.
On January 26, the President of the NOC of Ukraine, Vadim Gutzeit, said that the Ukrainian team could miss the Olympics in Paris if the teams of Russia and Belarus participate in it. He added that Ukraine is working on further possible steps to extend the sanctions.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is considering the possibility of admitting Russians to the 2024 Games in a neutral status, but there is no final decision on this issue. Competitions in Paris should be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
