The head of the ROC Pozdyankov called the restoration of the VFLA membership in World Athletics a step forward
The head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Stanislav Pozdnyakov, commented in his Telegram channel on the restoration of the membership of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) in the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics).
Pozdnyakov called this event a step forward. “The main thing, of course, is the return of our athletes, like all Russian athletes, to the usual competitive practice,” the functionary added.
On March 23, World Athletics announced the restoration of ARAF membership. At the same time, the suspension of Russian athletes from competitions under the auspices of the organization was extended. Thus, they will not be able to take part in the qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
In 2015, the ARAF membership in World Athletics was suspended due to systematic violations of anti-doping rules by Russians. Russian athletes could compete at international competitions only after receiving individual permits and in a neutral status.
