UEFA is investigating possible violations of the organization’s regulatory framework by Barcelona

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has launched an investigation into the Spanish “Barcelona”. This was reported on the website of the organization.

The union has appointed ethics inspectors who will look into the case of monetary payments to the former vice-president of the technical committee of referees of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Enriques Negreira. It is specified that in this situation, Barcelona could violate the regulatory framework of the organization.

On February 18, it was reported that the Spanish prosecutor’s office had initiated an investigation into the corruption component in relations between the Catalan club and Negreira. The management of the blue garnets allegedly transferred him 1.4 million euros from 2016 to 2018 for consulting services.

It was clarified that if the fact of corruption is proven, then FIFA can lower the club in the division and strip the titles. In addition, UEFA may suspend the club from participating in the Champions League for one season.
