Club NHL “Chicago” abandoned the form in support of LGBT people because of the Russians playing for the team

The Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL) have refused to use uniforms in support of LGBT people in the warm-up before the regular season game against the Vancouver Canucks. It is reported by The Athletic.

The decision was made by the security service “Chicago”. The club was worried that the Russian players of the team may have problems at home due to the law in force in Russia on a complete ban on LGBT propaganda. It was planned that the players of “Chicago” will come to the reel in sweaters with the image of the rainbow.

Three Russian hockey players play for Chicago: goaltender Anton Khudobin, defender Nikita Zaitsev and forward Pavel Gogolev.

On March 8, it was reported that the Minnesota Wild players did not wear pro-LGBT uniforms to the pre-game rehearsal, although this was planned. Instead, several players wrapped rainbow tape around their sticks and used themed pucks during warm-ups.

Earlier, New York Rangers players refused to participate in the promotion. In addition, the Russian Philadelphia Flyers hockey player Ivan Provorov did not wear a rainbow uniform, for which he was criticized. However, the club stood up for Provorov.
