The trainer called the arching of the lower back the most common mistake when doing exercises for the press
Fitness trainer Mikhail Prygunov revealed the main mistakes when doing abdominal exercises. His words are quoted by Gazeta.Ru.
The expert said that the most common mistake in training the press is arching the lower back forward. The specialist noted that this greatly reduces the effectiveness of one of the most popular press exercises – planks. “To perform it correctly, you should remove the deflection in the lower back, slightly bend the spine and tighten the tailbone,” he explained.
Another mistake Prygunov called non-compliance with the amplitude of movements. He emphasized that when lifting the upper body from a prone position, the amplitude should be short, about 30-35 degrees, when only the shoulders and shoulder blades are raised.
In addition, Prygunov noted that it is important to pay attention to breathing. “The effort must be made to exhale, while drawing in the stomach due to the deep muscles. Do not push or hold your breath during the exercise, ”he said.
Earlier, American scientists Michelle Olson and John Higgnins named the main mistakes that people make while exercising on a treadmill. Experts warn that you should not constantly look down during a workout, as this harms your posture. They also advise not to hold on to the handrails, because this overexerts the muscles of the lower back.
