Beccacece “takes over the team until the end of the 2023/2024 season”, the club said in an official statement.
He arrives to replace Pablo Machín, who took over in November of last year and, despite having achieved the team’s only two victories in LaLigawas unable to remove it from last place.
Becaccece was for years an assistant to fellow Argentine Jorge Sampaoli, sacked this Tuesday by Sevilla, and began his career as a coach at Universidad de Chile, before passing through Defensa y Justicia, Independiente and Racing in Argentina.
He arrives with the difficult mission of saving Elche from falling in the Spanish Championship, 14 points behind the first team above the relegation zone and with only 12 rounds to play.
The Argentine is the fourth coach to take over the club this season, after Machín, Francisco Rodríguez and Jorge Almirón.
