Daily Mail: Qatari sheikh ready to buy Manchester United for a record five billion pounds

The Qatari Sheikh wanted to buy Manchester United (MU) for a record amount. It is reported by the Daily Mail.

According to the publication, an investor close to the Qatari royal family will offer more than five billion pounds ($6.15 billion) for the team. British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe is ready to pay the same amount. Bidding is due to close on Wednesday March 22nd.

The largest sale of a sports team took place in June 2022. Back then, a consortium led by Rob Walton bought the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL) for $4.65 billion.

In December 2022, it became known that the Glazer family of American entrepreneurs, which owns Manchester United, wants to sell the team. Businessmen expect to receive more money from this deal than the former owner of the English Chelsea, Roman Abramovich.
