Ovechkin says support from Washington players after his father’s death was incredible
Russian forward “Washington Capitals” Alexander Ovechkin spoke about the support of teammates after the death of his father. His words are quoted on the website of the National Hockey League (NHL).
“Those were hard days, but the team helped me a lot,” said the captain of “Washington” and noted that the support of the hockey players was incredible.
On February 15, Ovechkin announced the death of his father. A day earlier, the hockey player left the location of “Washington” and flew to Moscow. After the return of the captain, the players went to the game against the Anaheim Ducks in helmets with “Papa Ovi” stickers and noted that they planned to play in them until the end of the season.
Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005. He spent all seasons in North America with Washington. Together with the club, the hockey player won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
