The RFU told about the negotiations with FIFA and UEFA on the return of Russian teams to tournaments
The Russian Football Union (RFU) spoke about negotiations with the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) on the return of domestic teams to tournaments. The words of the Deputy Secretary General of the organization Denis Rogachev are quoted by Match TV.
“We are negotiating with colleagues for a phased return to international competitions, but I cannot disclose the details,” said Rogachev. He noted that negotiations are also underway on participation in the tournament of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA).
On March 13, the press secretary of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, Faridun Saliev, announced that the Russian national football team will perform at the first CAFA championship. The tournament will be held from 9 to 21 June 2023.
On February 28, 2022, FIFA and UEFA excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. Domestic clubs do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team was deprived of the opportunity to compete for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
