Vyalbe said that a telephone conversation took place between the Secretary General of the FLGR and the head of the FIS, Johan Eliash, from which it became clear that the Russians needed to be returned to the tournaments. “To which our general secretary of the association said: “With the conditions that you propose, no one will agree to this.” In addition to the fact that they offer a neutral status for our athletes, they still push all the federations onto this path and say that they need these people to somehow confirm orally or in writing that they do not support the CBO, ”she revealed the details. .

In October 2022, Vyalbe said that with the suspension, Russian athletes could find motivation to prepare for the Olympics. However, she added that she would not be surprised if some of the skiers decide to leave the sport due to non-admission to tournaments.

On September 22, FIS denied Russian athletes admission to international tournaments for the 2022/2023 season. Skiers were suspended for the first time in March 2022.
