Tottenham players want Antonio Conte sacked

After the 3-3 draw against Southampton, bottom of the English Premier League, last Saturday, the Tottenham is strongly considering sacking Italian coach Antonio Conte this week during Data Fifa, according to the English newspaper The Sun.

The coach was harshly critical of the players and the club’s management during the post-match press conference. Daniel Levy, president of Tottenham, will hit the hammer later this week on the future of the Italian, who should already leave the team at the end of the season.

The team’s players do not want Conte to stay and are pressuring Levy for the Italian’s immediate dismissal. The tension between the commander and some athletes started after the elimination of the Champions for the Milanwhen Richarlison criticized the season and his playing time, saying that it had been “shit”.

Antonio Conte criticized the Brazilian’s statement and asked his players to use the word “we” more and not “I”, implying that the team was “selfish”. In the press conference after the last match, the soap opera gained another chapter when the coach stated that his athletes “didn’t play for something important” and that “they weren’t used to playing under stress”.

The coach still related the “lack of will” of his players to the fact that Tottenham had not managed to win a trophy for 15 years, directing the blame also to the presidents.

With the harsh comments about his squad and the board, the situation of the coach who earns 15 million euros per season (R$ 84 million) was practically unsustainable. His resignation has never been so close and is taken for granted in England.
