UFC fighter Khamzat Chimaev accused American Colby Covington of lying
Swedish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter of Chechen origin Khamzat Chimaev on his YouTube channel responded to the criticism of the American Colby Covington.
Chimaev accused Covington of lying. “I swear to God, I took the fight against him four times. Muslims will understand me: I swear by the Koran that I agreed four times to the proposal to meet with Covington, ”he said.
Earlier, Covington, during a press conference at the UFC 286 tournament, called Chimaev a laughing stock and a non-professional who does not know how to fight. The American also noted that the Swede almost ended his career due to a common cold.
Chimaev in his professional career had 12 fights without suffering a single defeat. In 2021, the athlete wanted to end his career due to the consequences of the coronavirus, but managed to recover from the illness and return to the octagon. In the last fight on September 10, 2022, he defeated Kevin Holland.
On account of Covington 17 wins with three defeats. On March 5, he defeated compatriot Jorge Masvidal.
