The 102 edition of the Volta a Catalunya will be disputed between March 20 and 26 and will have a luxury participation. They will not miss the appointment Primoz Roglic, Mikel Landa, Richard Carapaz, Remco Evenepoel, Egan Bernal and Geraint Thomas, among others. Will also be jonatahan castroviejo and the Basque teams Euskaltel-Euskadi, Caja Rural-Seuros RGA and Kern Pharma.
The big news this year is that there will be one more mountain stage than usual which will not be located in the Catalan Pyrenees. It will be the fifth, which will be held in Terres de l’Ebre, starting in Tortosa and finishing in the demanding Lo Port.
There will also be ideal stages for breakaways and even for arrivals to the sprint. Although, none of them will have a completely flat route. This causes the illusion that an epic breakaway will be repeated, such as the 133-kilometer one in search of victory in the general classification that took place last year between Sergio Higuita and Richard Carapaz. In the end, Higuita won the final triumph.
