Cherchesov said that the Iranian Azmun could cause problems for the Russians in a friendly match
Former head coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov spoke about the upcoming match of the national team against Iran. His words are quoted by Sport-Express.
The specialist said that he does not know how Iran plays, but the team leader Serdar Azmoun can cause trouble for any team. “He is well known in Russia, so the national team needs to prepare for it,” he said.
Azmun has been playing for Russian clubs since 2013. He was a footballer for Rubin, Rostov and Zenit. From the latter, the striker moved to the German Bayer in January 2022. As part of the Iranian national team, Azmoun took part in the 2022 World Cup, which the team left at the end of the group stage.
Earlier, on March 17, the Russian Football Union confirmed the holding of a friendly match between the national teams of Iran and Russia. The meeting will take place in Tehran on March 23 at 20:00 Moscow time.
