With a comeback on the final day, Ecuador entered the podium of the Valledupar 2022 Bolivarian Games when located third in the overall medal table with a sum of 146 medals.
The presentation of the XIX edition represents a considerable performance improvement of the tricolor athletes, with 40 gold medals, 51 silver and 55 bronze.
Ecuador did not enter the general podium in Santa Marta 2017 with a delegation superior to the 259 that went to Valledupar. In the previous edition, Team Ecuador was made up of 355 athletes, who, with 32 gold, 73 silver and 88 bronze medals, ranked fourth in the medal table.
The national team started the last day in fourth place, in closed dispute with Chile; however, a total of nine gold medals at the closing of competitions allowed to jump to Ecuador to the third box from the overall podium.
Weightlifting added six gold medals with Tamara Salazar, Lisseth Ayovà and Dixon Arroyo, in addition to the first place achieved by Vicente Loza in the half marathon.
Tuesday’s session closed with the presence of two Manabites on the podium of pole vault. The gold went to Dyander Pachowho with a jump of 5.40 meters won the title and a new Bolivarian record, meanwhile, Austin Ramos jumped 5.30 meters and stayed with the silver

Another discipline with two tricolors on the podium was the swimming, with Esteban Enderica and David Farinango, gold and silverrespectively, in the 10 km open water test.
On the final day of swimming, Anicka Delgado got the silver medal in the 50 meter freestyle final, while Michelle Játiva took the bronze in the 400 meters.
In the general balance highlights the presentation of the ladies in the different disciplineswith a sum of 19 gold medals, compared to 17 for men. In mixed modalities, Ecuador added another four gold medals, for a total of 40 medals, which are the ones that mark the position in the general table.
The tricolor athletes continue with their preparation for events by disciplines corresponding to olympic cyclebefore the XII South American Games in Asunción (Paraguay), in October.
As for the Bolivarian Games, the next appointment will be in 2025, with Guayaquil as the venue. (D)
