Twelve teams will be divided into three groups of four on November 26 and in March they will play a semifinal and final to qualify for Qatar 2022.
The European tie came to an end after matchday 10 was played and the ten teams that obtained a direct quota for the Qatar 2022 World Cup and the other ten that will have to overcome the playoffs to be in the World Cup were officially defined.

For their part, the teams of Turkey, Poland, North Macedonia and Ukraine, as well as those of Austria and the Czech Republic, which achieved access to the play-offs for their performance in the League of Nations, will make up Pot 2.
During the draw, the six teams from Pot 1 will be paired with those from Pot 2, with the exception of Russia and Ukraine, which, according to UEFA, cannot meet in the same tie.
The six winning teams will face each other in a final tie, also in a single match, for which the home and away team will be drawn.
The three teams that win will join Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Spain, France, England, the Netherlands, Serbia and Switzerland, who achieved direct qualification, as the 13 European representatives in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The semifinals will be played on March 24 and 25, 2022 and those teams that have performed better in the group stage will play as hosts. While the finals will be played on March 29 and the location will be defined by a draw.
