Irina Rodnina said that the hockey player Fedotov had to do military service in the sports company
State Duma deputy and three-time Olympic champion in figure skating Irina Rodnina found an explanation for the problems of Russian hockey player Ivan Fedotov with the army. Her words are quoted by Gazeta.Ru.
“At the age of 25, speaking for CSKA, Fedotov couldn’t do military service? You have to think and worry about yourself. Being a CSKA player, not going through a sports company – what’s that? Hope that Russian laws do not apply to him?” asked Rodina. At the same time, she stated that she was sorry for Fedotov, since a year without training could negatively affect him.

On July 4, it became known that Fedotov was taken to the training unit of the Russian Navy. It was noted that the hockey player will stay there until September.
Fedotov was detained on July 1. He was taken to the military registration and enlistment office, where he had an attack of gastritis. The situation developed against the backdrop of the player’s recent signing of a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League. He previously represented CSKA Moscow, with whom he won the Gagarin Cup.
