The Independent Disciplinary Committee of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) rejected the appeals of the Ice Hockey Federations of Russia (FHR) and Belarus to remove the national teams from participating in international competitions. This was reported on the website of the organization.

IIHF President Luc Tardif said he welcomed the decision. In his opinion, it was adopted for the safety and well-being of hockey players, staff, officials, journalists and spectators.

On February 28, the IIHF suspended the national teams of Belarus and Russia from participating in tournaments under its auspices. Russia has lost the right to host the 2023 World Cup in St. Petersburg and the World Youth Championship in Omsk and Novosibirsk. Also, the domestic team will not be able to compete at the 2023 World Cup.

After that, the FHR reported that they did not agree with the decision of the IIHF, calling the removal of the national team groundless. Then the organization filed applications with the IIHF Disciplinary Committee to review the sanctions.
