Shortly after Mauricio Pochettino was sacked, PSG announced the signing of new coach Christophe Galtier. The 55-year-old former defender, who was at Nice, closed a deal until June 2024.
The Frenchman was already presented this Tuesday, at a press conference in the Parc des Princes, and thanked him for the opportunity.
“It is with great joy and pride that I assume this role. I look forward to working with the players. We all measure what Paris Saint-Germain represents today in French and international football. Ambition, rigor and optimizing the team’s potential will be my guidelines,” he said.

“I want Neymar to stay”
In addition to performing, Galtier also touched on a subject that has generated a lot of movement in recent weeks. When asked about Neymar’s situation, the coach wants the Brazilian to remain in the squad.
“Neymar is one of the best players in the world. What coach wouldn’t like him in the squad? You have to have balance, but I have a very clear idea of how I want to use him. I hope he stays with us,” he said.
Despite speculation about the Brazilian’s departure from the French club, Neymar appeared this morning to start pre-season with the team.
Paris Saint-Germain announced the departure of Mauricio Pochettino also this Tuesday and thanked the moments lived with the professional.
“I want to thank Pochettino for all the work he has done. I wish him the best. Today begins a new era, a new atmosphere, a new motivation and new goals,” said Nasser Al-Khelaif.
Christophe Galtier had spells, as a player, at Olympique de Marseille, Lille and Toulouse. The first club where he held a coaching position was at Saint-Étienne, a team he worked for for eight years. Then he went to Lille and moved to Nice last season.
