Inter draws with Porto and returns to the Champions League quarterfinals after more than 10 years

In a duel valid for the round of 16 of the Champions LeaguePorto and Inter Milan drew 0-0 this Tuesday, at Estádio do Dragão, in Portugal.

With the 1-0 victory in the first leg, the Inter managed to secure qualification for the quarterfinals of the competition, a feat they had not achieved since the 2010/11 season. The Italians had less possession, but knew how to close the spaces well in defense to prevent the home team from taking the match to extra time.

The Milan team was the second team from Italy to get a place in the next phase of the Champions League, after AC Milan. Inter’s opponent will be defined in a draw this Friday, at 8 am (Brasília time).

The game

Porto’s best chances in the first half came from shots from outside the area. After three minutes, Uribe took a long shot and the ball went very close to the left corner of goalkeeper Onana. Inter, on the other hand, tried to take more danger on the counterattacks. At 21, Dzeko received a pass from Barella and crossed it, but Diego Costa managed to spread it out.

In the second half, the home team continued to try to score the goal that would take the game into extra time. In a good plot between Brazilians in the 10th minute, Pepê launched the ball and left Galeno in front of the goal, but the attacker was unable to direct the touch over Onana.

At the end of the match, Porto launched the entire team into the attacking field in search of victory.
