Called up by Argentina, Garnacho suffers injury for United and must be cut

O Manchester United confirmed this Tuesday that Argentine Alejandro Garnacho suffered an injury to his right ankle and will be sidelined for the next few matches. The striker was injured in the 0-0 draw against Southampton last Sunday and had to leave the Old Trafford stadium on crutches.

Although the club won’t say how long it will take for the 18-year-old to recover, the striker has already been told he will miss Argentina’s friendlies against Panama and Curacao at the end of March. On social media, Garnacho vented and claimed to be upset about the situation.

“I am disappointed to also miss out on the opportunity to be with my Argentina teammates, in what would have been a huge proud moment for me and my family. However, I am already focused on my recovery. God has taught me to never give up and I will make sure I come back stronger than ever,” he wrote.

In addition to commitments for Argentina, Garnacho will also miss the second leg of Europa League against Real Betis in Seville. Despite the embezzlement, United scored a 4-1 victory in the first leg and have their classification forwarded.

The number 49 shirt had been one of the highlights of the Manchester team this season. Carrying out his first full season as a professional, Garnacho has five goals and six assists in 32 games, most of them coming off the bench.
