The expectation is that the approval of this group should occur at the council meeting this Tuesday, according to sources heard by the Spanish vehicle.

The organization is meeting in Rwanda, Africa, for this year’s FIFA Council.

The task force, if approved, will define measures to ensure the well-being of soccer players. Some of the main ones would be the establishment of an annual rest period for players, the spacing of – at least – 72 hours between two games and the mandatory one day off per week.

The new group would also have to survey how these measures could be applied in a practical and fair way, thinking about implementation in all spheres of world football. The task force will also include members of FIFPro (International Federation of Professional Players Associations) and medical and technical experts.

FIFA’s initiative is being supported by all confederations and only needs to be approved by the entity’s council to become a reality.
