Radimov said that it is better for Russian football players to play with Medialiga than with Afghanistan
Russian football champion and former national team midfielder Vladislav Radimov spoke on his Telegram channel about the participation of the Russian national team in the championship of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA).
“To play anyway is better than not to play. The team needs competitive practice. Especially if the tournament has an official status and points in the rating of the International Football Federation (FIFA),” Radimov said.

At the same time, the ex-footballer noted that the level of opponents is important. “Iran is a serious opponent. We have already met with Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in autumn. But the level of the Afghan national team raises questions,” Radimov explained, adding that it is better to play with the Medialeague team than with Afghanistan.
Earlier, the press secretary of the Football Federation of Tajikistan Faridun Saliev said that the Russian national football team will perform at the first CAFA championship. The tournament will be held from 9 to 21 June this year.
In March, the Russian national team will play two friendly matches. On March 23, Tehran will host a game against Iran. On March 26, the Russians will host the Iraqi team in St. Petersburg.
On February 28, 2022, FIFA and UEFA excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. Domestic clubs do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team was deprived of the opportunity to compete for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
