The Fencing Federation of Ukraine commented on the decision to allow Russian athletes to participate in international tournaments. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“We are deeply shocked and outraged and are immediately convening a meeting of the presidium to decide on our reaction to the verdict,” the organization said. The Ukrainian side stressed that it would consult with members of the federation, athletes, coaches, the Ukrainian Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports.
On March 10, Inside the Games reported that the International Fencing Federation (FIE) has decided to return Russian and Belarusian athletes to tournaments. Voting took place at an extraordinary congress of the organization. The return of athletes to the competitions will take place no earlier than mid-April 2023.
