With Messi and Mbappé, PSG loses again to Bayern and is out of the Champions League

This Wednesday, the Bayern Munchen won the Paris Saint Germain (PSG) by 2 to 0, in Germany, for the second leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League. Choupo-Moting and Gnabry scored the goals of the game in the second stage.

The German team had already beaten PSG 1-0 in the first leg and is qualified for the quarterfinals of the European competition. The French team had stars Mbappé and Messi as starters, which was not enough to avoid another defeat. Already the Brazilian Neymar, injured, was out.

The Champions League quarterfinal clashes will be defined by draw, scheduled for March 17th.

The game

Paris Saint-Germain started the match going up the lines, reaching the opposing area and trying to score early. Bayern Munich, on the other hand, could not leave with the ball or maintain possession for a long time, which gave the Parisians a good advantage in the first half.

The main chance of the initial stage came in the 37th minute, when goalkeeper Sommer lost the ball inside his own area and De Ligt knocked Vitinha’s shot off the line.

The German team improved and, in the last minutes of the first half, forced Donnarumma to make good defenses. PSG were in an even more uncomfortable situation when Marquinhos left the field in pain and was replaced by Mukiele.

In the second stage, just after six minutes, Bayern Munich scored with Choupo-Moting, but the goal was disallowed for offside by Thomas Muller. The good moment of the German team, however, did not disappear and the score was opened for good at 15, also with Choupo-Moting.

Needing two goals to stay alive, PSG went for it, but created few chances and lacked organization. The two main opportunities came from headers by defender Sergio Ramos.

Before the final whistle, Gnabry doubled up on the counterattack for Bayern and Mané still scored, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
