Argentine José Pékerman leaves command of the Venezuelan national team

José Pékerman is no longer the coach of the Venezuelan national team. The information was released on the social networks of the Venezuelan Football Federation. The Argentine coach resigned from his position, in which he had been since November 2021.

According to information from TNT Sports, the end of the bond was due to delays in payments and also due to disagreements between the FVF and the coach’s football project for the team.

In a note published on its Twitter, the Venezuelan Federation stated that, for it, “it is essential that everyone who is part of the team share the highest standards of commitment and delivery” and that it will continue “working to ensure that these standards are met, giving the best for our sport, with professionalism, seriousness and rigor.”

Pékerman was ahead of the Venezuela national team for 10 games, adding 5 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses, with 15 goals scored and 13 conceded. Throughout this period, the 73-year-old coach, who has also played for the Colombian and Argentine national teams, led the team during part of the qualifiers for the world Cup of Qatar in which the Venezuelans, in addition to failing to qualify for the competition, finished in last place, with 10 points conquered in 18 games.

Therefore, we will continue working to ensure that these standards are met, giving the best to our sport, with professionalism, seriousness and rigor.”
