Syria ex-captain Ahmad Al-Saleh suspended for life for attacking referee

The Syrian Football Association has suspended former national team captain Ahmad Al Saleh for life for assaulting a referee. It is reported by the BBC.

On March 3, Al-Saleh, who played as part of the Al-Jaish club, received a red card during a Syrian championship match against Al-Watba. After that, the athlete attacked the referee who removed him with insults, spat at him and kicked him.

Al-Saleh has been a member of the Syrian national team since 2008, he played in 56 matches and scored two goals. At Al Jaish, the 32-year-old defender spent a total of seven years, leaving twice for other Syrian teams.

On September 8 last year, it was reported that the players of the Dagestan amateur club Derbent attacked the referee after the match of the third division of the Russian championship against Astrakhan. The incident provoked the referee’s decision to remove one of the Derbent players at the end of the match. Astrakhan won with a minimum score.
