The 28-year-old athlete is a starter for the Portuguese team and was scouted by other European clubs. To avoid harassment from other clubs, Benfica opted to sign Vlachodimos for another three years. The Greek joined the Lisbon team in 2018 from Panathinaikos.
Highlight of the 2022/23 edition of the Champions League, Benfica is now working to renew the contract of other important names in the squad. Defenders Otamendi and Grimaldo only have a contract until June and can transfer free of charge from Encarnados.
In addition to the good campaign of the continental competition, coach Roger Schmidt’s men also have a good campaign in the Portuguese Championship. In 23 rounds, Benfica has 62 points, eight more than second place Porto.
