Lugo announced this Tuesday the hiring of Inigo Velez de Mendizabal as the new coach of the rojiblanco team, bottom of LaLiga SmartBank twelve points from permanence and with twelve days to play.
The Galician club highlights that he is “one of the young coaches to stand out on the national scene in recent seasons” and recalls that “he achieved the historic promotion” with Amorebieta in the 2020/21 season to the silver category.
The team from Lugo also emphasizes his “remarkable career as a footballer in teams like Eibar, Athletic Club de Bilbao or Numancia”.

The coach from Vitoria replaces on the Lugo bench Joan Carrillowho spent five games in the rojiblanco team and was dismissed this Monday after not having achieved any victory.
Cheek added two draws and conceded three defeats in a team that began the season with Hernan Perez on the bench, on which he also sat Fran Justo.
