Real Madrid draws with Betis and sees Barcelona lead by nine points in Espanyol

This Sunday, Real Madrid and Betis tied for no goals, in a match valid for the 24th round of the Spanish Championship. The ball rolled at Estadio Benito Villamarín.

With the result, Real, which reached 53 points and remained in second place in Espanyol, saw Barcelona, who won the round, open nine points ahead at the top of the competition. On the other hand, Betis remained in fifth place in La Liga, with 41 points.

Betis returns to the field this Thursday, at 5 pm (Brasília time), against Manchester United, in a match for the round of 16 of the Europa League, which takes place at Old Trafford. Real Madrid, in turn, faces Espanyol next Saturday, at 10 am, for the 25th round of La Liga, at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The game

In the 8th minute of the first half, Ayoze Pérez shot from outside the area, requiring Courtois to make a great save.

Two minutes later, Real responded with Benzema, who, with a free kick, sent the ball into the corner, with no chance for Claudio Bravo. The finish, however, slipped on the arm of the German Rudiger, who was next to the Betis barrier. Thus, after reviewing the bid, the goal was annulled.

After that, the game started to be dominated by the visitors, who, however, were unable to open the scoring.

In the second half, at 15 minutes, Valverde found Rodrygo free, facing the goal. The Brazilian, however, kicked over Claudio Bravo’s goal. It was during the second half, too, that Vinicius Junior carried out effective moves on the left side of the field, but he sinned at the time of crosses, which, many times, did not find Real Madrid players. Thus, the game ended in a draw.
