Close to leaving Liverpool, Firmino declares himself to the club after historic thrashing

This Sunday, Liverpool applied the biggest rout in the history of the derby against Manchester United by winning 7-0. Scorer of the last goal of the match, the Brazilian Roberto Firmino, who decided not to renew his contract and will leave the club for free at the end of the season, in June, declared himself to the Reds and stated that he will carry this afternoon’s victory with him for the rest of his life.

“I’ve experienced many things with the Liverpool shirt. I won important titles, notable goals, and today’s game enters that gallery of unforgettable moments that I will take with me for the rest of my life. I have a history built in this club that I love, I know the size of this rivalry, and today’s game shows that our team is strong, and that we can go far”, he said.

“I have no words to describe what I felt today. Hearing my name being shouted by the fans, being able to enter and even score a goal in this historic match… I just have to thank God for giving me moments like this. Another beautiful page that I put it in the book of my history with Liverpool. Congratulations to my teammates for this victory that will remain in everyone’s memory”, completed the striker.

Liverpool situation in English and next appointment

The goal scored by Firmino came in the 44th minute of the second half, just ten after the player entered the field. The number 9 received Salah inside the area, dominated and spun around hitting De Gea’s legs to consecrate the rout over the Red Devils.

With the result, Liverpool temporarily assumed fifth place in the English Championship, with 42 points. However, the team coached by Jurgen Klopp can leave the Europa League classification zone if Newcastle wins in the round.

Now, the red club returns to the field at 9:30 am (Brasília time) next Saturday, against Bournemouth, away from home. The match, valid for the 27th round of the Premier League, takes place at Dean Court, in Bournemouth (ING).
