In England’s biggest classic, Liverpool beat rivals Manchester United 7-0 this Sunday, for the 26th round of the Premier League. At Anfield, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Núñez and Salah scored two goals each and Firmino closed the historic rout.
United even scored a goal offside in the first half, but Liverpool came back from the break at an overwhelming pace and declared the triumph. The result takes the Reds to fifth place in the table and interrupts the streak of four victories for the Manchester team.
First time
Liverpool started the match better and almost opened the scoring with Robertson. The full-back invaded the area from the left, finished, but defender Lisandro Martínez saved with a header. The Argentine would prevent another great chance to score in the sequence, when Darwin Núñez deflected the first post and the defender sent it to a corner.
The visitors reacted in the game and threatened with Bruno Fernandes. After Dalot’s cross, the Portuguese midfielder headed into the area, but the finish scraped by the outside of the crossbar. In the 41st minute, United scored a goal with Casemiro heading in, but it was disallowed for offside.

Second time
On the way back from the break, Liverpool extended the lead through Darwin Núñez. After a mistake in United’s ball exit, Elliot was left with the area and crossed for the Uruguayan striker to score the second goal.
The hosts felt the good moment and took advantage of the counterattack afterwards. Salah made a beautiful individual play on the right and passed to Gakpo in the area, who provided a touch of coverage to beat goalkeeper De Gea, in the 4th minute.

The victory ensures Liverpool in fifth place in the English Championship, with 42 points. Manchester United, on the other hand, moves away from the leaders of the table and parks in third place, with 49 points.
In the next round, Jurgen Klopp’s team visit Bournemouth away from home, in the Premier League. On the other hand, the Red Devils face off for another competition this Thursday, the Europa League, in which they face Real Betis for the round of 16.
