At the opening of the 23rd round of the Portuguese Championshipthe leader Benfica received Famalicão, this Friday, at Estádio da Luz, in Lisbon (POR), and won by 2 to 0. Top scorer Gonçalo Ramos scored the goals of the game.
Thus, the Eagles reach nine unbeaten games – seven consecutive victories – in the national. With that, they reach 62 points, in first place, and open 11 ahead of rival Porto, vice-leader of the competition.
On the other hand, Famalicão is again defeated after triumphing in the last two rounds. The visiting team is in tenth place, with 27 points won. The distance to the classification zone for the European leagues is ten goals, while for the Z3 it is 11. However, it can lose up to four positions at the end of the day.
In the next round, therefore, Benfica will visit Marítimo, at 3 pm (Brasília time) on Sunday (12), at Estádio dos Barreiros. In turn, Famalicão receives Casa Pia, on Monday, from 17:15, at Estádio Municipal de Famalicão.
Before that, however, the Eagles are concerned with the second leg of the round of 16 of the European Champions League. The Portuguese club, which has the advantage for having won the first leg by 2-0, faces Club Brugge, from Belgium, next Tuesday, at 5 pm, at Estádio da Luz.
Benfica’s goals against Famalicão
Playing with the support of their fans, Benfica opened the scoring in the 36th minute of the first half. Grimaldo launched the attack and received a beautiful pass from Otamendi. The left winger tried the low cross, which was cleared by the defense. In the rebound, the number 3 himself played again for the area and Gonçalo Ramos appeared to push, at first, to the bottom of the goal.
Finally, in the 48th minute of the second half, Benfica’s top scorer scored his second in the match. The center forward took advantage of the rebound inside the area and gave final numbers to the confrontation.
