Roberto Firmino will not renew and will leave Liverpool at the end of the season

According to the English newspaper sky sportsBrazilian striker Roberto Firmino will leave Liverpool at the end of the season after more than eight years at the club. Roger Wittman, the player’s agent, also confirmed the departure of the athlete from the English club after the end of his contract, which expires in June this year.

Firmino even received a proposal to renew his bond with Liverpool and both parties seemed to be close to an agreement, but the team’s number 9 decided to follow a “new challenge” in his career. German coach Jurgen Klopp gave a press conference this Friday, but the striker was never named. The Reds have a classic against Manchester United next Sunday, at 1:30 pm (Brasília time).

“Bobby” – as he is known by Liverpool fans – arrived at the club in 2015, coming from Hoffenheim, Germany, for 29 million euros (R$ 160 million at current prices). In England, the Brazilian made history, helping his team out of a Premier League title drought after 30 years and winning a Champions League.

Alongside Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah, Firmino formed one of the greatest attacks in the history of the Liverpool, making the team rise to the next level and fight for titles inside and outside England. Altogether there were 107 goals scored in 353 matches for the Reds.

At 31, the player was in good form, but suffered from injuries this season and lost space for new options for Klopp in attack, such as Luis Díaz, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Núñez. It remains to be seen whether Firmino will continue to play in Europe or return to Brazilian football.
