The Dutchman’s announcement comes shortly before coach Ronald Koeman’s call-up for the March friendlies. In an interview with the vehicle Football Internationalthe coach commented regretted the choice of Luuk de Jong.
“I was surprised when he called me saying that he would not be available for the national team. But I understand that he wants to concentrate fully on PSV. We will miss him. Both on and off the pitch,” he said.
In club football, Luuk de Jong went through great teams in European football, such as Barcelona, Seville and Newcastle. Currently, the striker is in his second spell at PSV, where he is in the starting line-up and has had a good season, with 10 goals and seven assists in 27 matches.
