Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal will fly out of the ATP top 10 for the first time since 2005
Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal will fly out of the top 10 rankings of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for the first time in 18 years. It is reported by Fox Sports.
Nadal will lose the 600 ranking points he received for reaching the final of the tournament in Indian Wells in 2022. However, in 2023, he will not be able to take part in these competitions due to a leg injury received at the Australian Open and compensate for the lost points.
The last time Nadal was outside the top ten was in April 2005. The Spaniard holds the record for being in the top 10 of the rankings: he has not left it for 912 weeks. He currently ranks eighth in it.
Earlier, Nadal spoke about the possibility of performing until the age of 40. “It seems to be difficult. But at the same time, at the age of 28-29, it was very difficult for me to imagine that I would play at 36. But now I play – and I occupy a high position in the ranking, I fight for titles, ”the athlete shared.
36-year-old Nadal is the owner of the career Golden Slam in singles. He won 22 victories in the tournaments of the series, including 14 times became the champion of Roland Garros.
