Norwegian doctor says 50-70% of national team skiers have asthma
Norwegian doctor Uwe Ferangen spoke about the skiers of the national team suffering from asthma. It is reported by VG.
According to him, about 50-70 percent of athletes from the team for the 2023 World Cup take special drugs for asthma. “This number has practically not changed for several years,” the specialist added.
Ferangen recalled that asthma can occur in different ways in people. “Athletes train very hard and over time put a lot of strain on their respiratory system. So there are different types of asthma,” said the Norwegian.
In June last year, the former head coach of the Russian national handball team Evgeny Trefilov spoke about asthma in Norwegian skiers. “In cross-country skiing, horse loads. No real asthmatic can withstand such stress. But they get special permits to use the necessary medicines and run,” he said.
