Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov continues to gradually come out of a medically induced coma after a minor stroke. This became known to TASS.
“This is a slow process. According to other indicators, at the moment he is normal, ”a source from the agency said. He added that doctors have concerns about the condition of the athlete’s left hand, so they are closely monitoring the hand.
On March 2, it was reported that the 46-year-old skater continues to be in a stable, serious condition. It was noted that he underwent several blood purification procedures – plasmapheresis.
On February 26, information appeared that Kostomarov had a microstroke, after which he was put into a drug-induced sleep for 72 hours. A few days earlier it was reported that the athlete had a quarter of the brain affected due to hemorrhage and hematoma in the frontal lobe. However, later the doctors said that there was no severe cerebral edema.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. The figure skater underwent several limb amputations. According to Telegram channels 112 and Mash, Kostomarov’s left foot was amputated, as well as several fingers on both hands.
