Figure skater from Azerbaijan Litvintsev said that the atmosphere at the World Cup without the Russians was different
Azerbaijani figure skater Vladimir Litvintsev shared his impressions of his performance at the 2022 World Championships in Montpellier. It is reported by Championship.com.
The athlete spoke about the impact of the absence of Russians at the tournament on his surroundings. “The atmosphere was different, because a lot of Russian fans always come, they always support, and this was not the case at this World Cup,” the skater added.
The athlete also said that he made several offensive mistakes that did not allow him to take a higher place. “It was hard after the Olympics, I was a little burnt out emotionally, it was difficult to switch to the training process again,” said Litvintsev, who finished the world championship in 16th position.
On June 7, the International Skating Union (ISU) at the congress of the organization decided to extend the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under its auspices. It will remain in effect until further notice.
