Team cyclists UCI World Team and UCI Women’s World Team, top category of world cycling, are called to take the start this Saturday, March 4in the Strade Bianche 2023. With a final climb that includes inclines of up to 16%, the race, which begins and ends in Siena and runs through Tuscany, presents a route with constant ascents and descents, and is characterized by the difficulty of its gravel stretches. Pello Bilbao, Alex Aranburu, Jonathan Lastra and Ane Santesteban They will be, among others and other cyclists, on the starting line.

In this context, the men’s race It has a route of 184 kilometers, of which 63 are disputed on unpaved terrain, in eleven sections. Eight of those eleven sections are also on the course of the female race, for a total of more than 30 kilometers on gravel in the latter case. The cyclists will have to complete a 136-kilometer journey from the start to the finish, and, in addition to several unpaved sections, they also share the last kilometers with the participants of the men’s race, which do not present differences for the two pelotons.

The organization of the Strade Bianche has confirmed that the Basque runners will be in the test Pello Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious), Alex Aranburu (Movistar) and Jonathan Lastra (Cofidis)in the male test, while Anne Santesteban will lead the team Jayco in the women’s race. In addition, several cyclists who already have the Italian race in their palmares will also participate, such as Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal Quick-Step), Tiesj Benoot (Jumbo), Zdenek Stybar (Jayco) and Michal Kwiatkowski (INEOS). They are also on the list of participants Thomas Pidcock (INEOS), Matej Mohoric (Bahrain Victorious), Peter Sagan (TotalEnergies), AlbertoBettiol (EF Education-EasyPost) and Tim Wellens (UAE Emirates).

Lotte Kopecky was the winner and Tadej Pogacar the winner of the Strade Bianche 2022.
